DC SPACEBALL

The greatest game in the Milky Way.

Once a year, the entire DC space community ducks out of work early, packs the nosebleeds, and talks shop until the stadium lights come on. Nobody watches the baseball. That's the point.

What it is

The least formal, most fun afternoon in space.

Spaceball began as a grassroots get-together of the DC space community and grew into the one afternoon a year when civil, commercial, national-security, academic, and think-tank folks are all in one place — at a Nationals game almost nobody is watching.

Just the DC space family, a few thousand strong, under the longest day's last light.

History

A decade of ducking out early.

What began with a small crew of DC space wonks now draws well over a thousand people from across the industry — some flying in just for the afternoon. The badge changes every year. The mission doesn't: get the family together.

By the community, for the community.

Spaceball is a grassroots tradition and always free to gather. This hub exists to make showing up easy — not to change what makes it great.

FAQ

How do I get tickets?

Tickets are coordinated as a group so the space crowd sits together. Get on the list and you'll get the order details and the deadline once they're set.

Do I need an app?

Recent years have used electronic tickets through the MLB Ballpark app. If that's the case again, the list will walk you through it — and no, you don't need to download a thing to RSVP.

Are there shirts?

Almost always. A new design every year — one of the oldest Spaceball traditions.

Is this the official Spaceball site?

Spaceball is an informal community tradition with no single owner. dcspaceball.com is a community hub built to keep everyone in the loop and make showing up easy.
